Welcome! I'm so excited to start this new adventure with you! Fair warning, this is my first attempt at any type of blog since the first days of the internet (Remember how everyone had those weird Yahoo personal websites? Just me? Ok.), so please bear with me!
After being completely against the idea of blogs, I realized last summer that they, along with Pinterest, sent me into more of a DIY frenzy than ever before...and I couldn't get enough! I have many friends who like to dabble in a few different DIYs, but nothing major. I, on the other hand, cannot sit still. In the rare event that I have some downtime, I'm either at a local thrift store looking for inspiration or at Home Depot annoying the employees about what types of material would best work for the craft I have in mind. FYI: employees either love it or hate it when you ask them questions about crafts; I tend to find the older employees because they seem to like the challenge a little more. I like to think they just find it more endearing that this young woman is prancing around Home Depot trying to figure out what type of foam tubing will work best for a wreath-don't worry, I'll have a post about this.
Anyway, the more ideas I came across on blogs or Pinterest, the more I wanted to post some of my ideas. I was blessed with the gift of being inspired by something and finding a really cheap way of (re)creating it WHILE making it not look homemade. To me, the biggest compliment about a DIY is when someone is genuinely surprised that you made something because they thought you bought it. I wanted to share my tips and tricks to those girls who are not expert seamstress or builders; there are still things you can do that will make you smile and brag about your project every time you pass it!
Don't get me wrong, I haven't always been this way! When I was younger, and only had a few dollars to spend, I would go on a shopping spree at the Dollar Tree. EVERYTHING I bought was junk. I ended up throwing it all away eventually. Now, I can still go to the Dollar Tree, but I find things that look like I've spent a lot on them, and not things that look like someone paid me to take it off their hands! Hooray!
So, get inspired, feel free to share your tips and tricks, and enjoy!
